#FOU4PeacefulElections
As Uganda approaches the 2026 General Elections, the call for calm, unity, and responsible civic engagement has never been more urgent. Elections are a cornerstone of democracy, but when accompanied by tension or violence, they risk undermining national stability and social cohesion. It is within this critical context that Friends of Uganda (FOU) has launched a nationwide civic peace campaign aimed at safeguarding peaceful elections in Uganda.

Through the #FOU4PeacefulElections initiative, Friends of Uganda is championing neutrality, non-violence, and shared responsibility among citizens, political actors, and institutions.
Why Peaceful Elections Matter in Uganda
#FOU4PeacefulElections
Peaceful elections in Uganda are not just about polling day, they are about preserving lives, protecting livelihoods, and strengthening trust in democratic processes. Uganda’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths, but during election periods, differences in political opinion can easily be manipulated into conflict.
A peaceful electoral environment:
- Protects citizens from harm
- Encourages voter participation
- Strengthens democratic legitimacy
- Preserves national unity beyond political cycles
Friends of Uganda believes that peace is not passive, it requires active commitment from everyone.
Election Violence Prevention in Uganda: A Shared Responsibility

#FOU4PeacefulElections
Election violence prevention in Uganda cannot be left to security agencies alone. While institutions play a vital role, the everyday actions of citizens, political supporters, influencers, and community leaders are equally powerful.
The Friends of Uganda peace initiative emphasizes:
- Rejecting hate speech and incitement
- Promoting respectful political dialogue
- Reporting misinformation responsibly
- Encouraging tolerance before, during, and after elections
By choosing restraint and dialogue over confrontation, Ugandans help create an environment where elections are competitive but not destructive.
Civic Peace Campaigns in Uganda: The Role of Friends of Uganda
#FOU4PeacefulElections
Civic peace campaigns in Uganda are essential in shaping public attitudes, especially among youth and first-time voters. Friends of Uganda is leveraging digital platforms, community engagements, and strategic partnerships to amplify messages of peace and neutrality across the country.
Key pillars of the #FOU4PeacefulElections campaign include:
- Digital peace messaging and social media advocacy
- Community dialogues and youth engagements
- Collaboration with security agencies and local leaders
- Non-partisan voter education focused on peaceful participation
The campaign is deliberately neutral, FOU does not promote any political party or candidate. Its mission is singular: a peaceful, united Uganda before, during, and after elections.

Youth, Digital Media, and Peaceful Elections
#FOU4PeacefulElections
With Uganda’s population being predominantly young and digitally connected, social media plays a decisive role in shaping election narratives. Friends of Uganda recognizes that digital spaces can either fuel division or promote unity.
Through targeted online content, hashtags, and peace-focused storytelling, #FOU4PeacefulElections encourages young people to:
- Think before sharing political content
- Reject online incitement and misinformation
- Use their platforms to promote calm and coexistence
Digital responsibility is now a key pillar of election violence prevention in Uganda.
Our Nation, Our Shared Responsibility
#FOU4PeacefulElections
Elections come and go, but Uganda remains. Political competition should never come at the cost of peace, lives, or national harmony. Friends of Uganda calls upon all citizens, regardless of political affiliation, to place peace above provocation and unity above division.
By supporting civic peace campaigns in Uganda and amplifying the Friends of Uganda peace initiative, every Ugandan can contribute to a safer, more inclusive electoral process.
