Friends of Uganda (FOU) was established in response to the growing need for a unified platform that promotes peace, national pride, civic responsibility, and social cohesion across Uganda. The movement was inspired by the belief that Uganda’s strength lies in its diversity and that citizens, regardless of tribe, region, political affiliation, or social status, share a collective duty to safeguard and develop the nation.
Over time, FOU evolved into a structured, people-centred initiative championing unity, dialogue, and community-driven transformation.
Absolute non-partisanship in all organisational operations, messaging, and engagements.
Uganda’s interests take precedence above political affiliations, ethnic divisions, or ideological differences.
Respect for diverse opinions and deliberate creation of spaces for constructive cross-party and community engagement.
Encouraging every Ugandan to actively participate in safeguarding public resources, social cohesion, and national institutions.
Despite Uganda’s vast natural wealth, cultural richness, and human potential, several persistent issues continue to hinder national unity and development. These include:
A united, peaceful, and prosperous Uganda where citizens collectively safeguard the nation’s destiny, prioritising national interest above political cycles, personal ambition, and partisan divisions.
To promote a culture of peace, active tolerance, and patriotic responsibility among all Ugandans through advocacy, civic education, inclusive dialogue, grassroots mobilisation, and citizen-led national preservation initiatives.
FOU’s philosophy is grounded in the belief that peace is not an event but a culture, and that this culture must be nurtured deliberately through the daily actions of citizens.
To promote sustainable peace, unity, and national preservation in Uganda by reducing political division, countering harmful rhetoric, fostering cross-community dialogue, and empowering citizens as active custodians of national cohesion before, during, and beyond election cycles.
Together, we inspire peace, strengthen communities, and build a better Uganda for all.
